Two complete 7000 systems - not even I have done that! Are they different colours?
No, both have the standard aluminium finish. But I know a complete white system for sale!
Get it - then you would only have the black left to earn the official BS7000 looney award The funny
Beocentral is quite good for objective reviews (certainly on vintage stuff).
Agreed - that and Beoworld work quite well together. Here we have usually more details, like physical dimensions, and the contemporary hype you would expect from a sales brochure - then you can go to Beocentral and they will tell you

  • Re: remote control not responding at long range

InB4 either of the Martins come up, I'd say replace all the electrolytic caps in the CPU module as well as the small caps in the power supply and see if it helped. The IR and MCL data lines go through separate circuitry to separate inputs on the actual processor, but the faults above may affect the operation of the "brains" in general

  • Re: Member Banned

Like in that Bad, Bad Thread, I fail to see what the fuss is so I would like to remain indifferent. However, I don't need to read any email that Lee gets, and all the public input from this guy - however small in quantity - has been on the negative side of the usefulness axis, so good riddance I guess...

  • Re: Beovox Cona: One or Two?

Thanks for posting! Apparently the Conas go high enough that you can actually get some stereo imaging. This should depend on the room size as well; as soon as the frequency goes low enough to create standing waves instead of advancing sound, you should not be able to sense much direction. Of course the lowest going instruments are usually panned to

  • Re: Beomaster 6000

The insulating barrier in electrolytic caps is a thin oxide layer that builds on one of the metal plates from the electrolyte once a correct polarity voltage is applied. If the caps stay non-used for a long time, the oxide layer gets thinner and thinner, compromising the insulation properties between the capacitor plates (you can still think plates

  • Re: Mermaid screen backlight

Be careful in there - if the inverter happens to be working, it will feed about 1 kV to the actual light tubes! Otherwise it should be pretty obvious where it sits if you get the monitor apart. It usually just takes 12V in and there can be 1, 2 or 4 tubes that it is supposed to light up. If you can see the display operating with a flashlight, I'm

  • Re: Beovox Uniphase S45's vs S45.2's
Beovox S45-2 does not have overload fuses. The popping overload fuses were introduced with the revised Uniphase models so yours will have to be the Beovox S45 type 6427. Or Beovox S50/S55/S80, I don't remember if the smaller models had the fuses at all. Martin
Looking through the pictures over here and at

  • Re: Mermaid screen backlight

I know nothing of Mermaids specifically, but often in TFT monitors this fault is because the voltage inverter for the CCFL backlight has died (sometimes the CCFL itself). In most cases the inverter is a separate small module. The inverter may be repairable and it is often possible to rig up an inverter from a different monitor, but obviously that falls
I just got a post from the Moderating team that my post on the last Wednesday thread was excepted, much to my surprise. Good stuff. Won't make it passed the Wednesday thread shredder, though.
Me too! Fat chance I'm going to go and read what it actually was!
