Peter: Yes, but you only see detail with your macula which is your central vision. That is what will be covered by your fist. Seeing screen in your peripheral vision is an expensive way to waste money! Well I looked into it (late last night), and the fovea is around 5.4 degrees, so I suppose a fist would be about the right size at arm's length! I admit

  • Re: How to start my 'collection'?!

MachTzu was referring to the 8000s, not the 4000s, and yes there is a massive massive difference between the 6000s and the 8000s, they are not comparable at all IMO! BeoLab 3s and 8000s are very comparable speakers, just they do have different sound characters. If electronic music is more your thing, then I suspect BeoLab 3s will be what you want. You

  • Re: CX100 center speaker mounting

As long as you configure your surround sound processor accordingly. It should have an option to set 'speaker distances', which will delay the sound from a speaker which is nearer to you, meaning each speaker's sound arrives at the same time - supposedly! When you say mount the speaker behind the TV, you don't literally mean firing into the back of the

  • Re: Beolab 9

Using the BeoLab 1 setting will actually limit the performance of the BeoLab 9s, so as philipsmz333 says, use the BeoLab 5 setting. And yes there is a software update for BeoLab 9s in the menu of the Avant, or will be soon! I suggest when you compare the speakers, try the BeoLab 9s without the Velodyne (as great as it is), the BeoLab 9s can push out

Black levels and 100 Hz flicker are not the only aspects of a picture though. I personally find the flicker a BeoVision 5 produces quite irritating, but it seems less of a problem with the 9 to me. I can't say it's ever made it difficult to view TBH! Black levels could be better, but they are still pretty impressive with the BeoVision 9.

beodude: Killy : "You say that but running an HD signal, sitting 2 m away from the BV9 is very impressive. They do that in my local dealer and it's actually pretty amazing, and because of the height of the screen in the BeoVision 9, it's very comfortable to watch. With the Avant though, you NEED to sit further away. It isn't HD and

  • Re: Loosing my religion

Agreed! The BeoVision 9 is stunning mainly because of the BeoSystem 3 powering it. It's got a good panel, a very good panel - even if it isn't the best panel on the entire market. Nonetheless it's the best picture I've seen on any set around at the moment. RE the BeoVision 7, yes it's still very magical, and the sound is second to none, the way DVDs

  • Re: Loosing my religion

In the days of CRT (weird saying that not long after we were saying 'plasma won't take on that quickly'), B&O were ahead of the game. It's pretty safe to say that the latest and greatest version of the Avant was the best CRT TV ever made and still has just about the best picture on the market. However, when B&O dropped the Avant (not literally) and
