You are quite correct. However as the BM5500 has no controls on it apart from the two side switches, the more useful mamual is that for the MCP5500 which is on.

Good honest set up here - one of the better sounding systems of the early 80s. Sell the items separately with pictures - the 1902 with a pick up is worth at least £60, the BM2200 is a real star but hardly anyone knows what it is - £70 and the S45s are (if the single grille model) the best small speakers made by B&O - I have two pairs

By satellites I take it that you mean rear speakers. They do make a difference but in my view are the least important part of the system. For action films, they are noticeable but I have rears for one of my systems and not for the other and don't really miss them. I think the BV7-40 will take 7.2 sound now so I can understand why you are so advised

Agree with David - S120s or S75s would be my choice. I ran a 9500 for many years with S75s and was always very happy with it. Should be cheap and the S75 is not prone to rot - the S120 is but when fixed is possibly better balanced.

You need a Beolink converter and one masterlink and a 7 pin din cable. I would suggest connecting the speakers to the Avant if it has a surround module and running the 7000 in Option 0. Did this for a number of years and it works very well.

There are so many classics but the one that first attracted me to actually buying some B&O was the 2400 system with a Beogram 4004. Still have one of these system today in the MC40. The 2400 was just so unlike everything else on the market - think tower systems. Simply inspired.

I think I would probably go for the BV8. The picture is better though I would miss the contrast screen. The lack of DVD in the 7-40 removes the bit of the BV7 I really like! The BV8 would make a superb link set when she moves in!
