Spraying the transformer basically replaces any laquer which was originally applied to the copper wire windings as an insulator and to also to stop the transformer vibrating. Obviously you won't get them same degree of penetration as was originally applied but I've heard

Peter: If you have a 5500, I would actually get Penta 1s as they will be much cheaper and you will need to use Speakerlink anyway. Make sure the cones are OK.
