Exactly, that's what I thought. I thought HDMI 1.3 contained additional support for digital audio, especially Dolby DTS. ie. no need for digital out if you use HDMI!
-
Doesn't the audio get sent via the HDMI lead? I thought that was the point of HDMI?

One positive thing I can say about recent B&O LCDs is that this (watching from an angle) is far less of a problem than on my BV7-32. Even the BV8-32 can be viewed successfully from a wide angle. I didn't think that this was a problem with the BV7-40 MKII, but it might be improved on the MKIII - it's all do with the viewing angle on an LCD
-
355f: I agree with this and B&O should not be so greedy in its pricing expectations of Plasma and LCD, thats the main problem- they are not ahead of the pack enough to charge £2400 for a BV8 that is made in China for no more than $450. Still fact is it would seem at the present time there are enough people with money that are happy to buy
-
335f, yes that's an option. Another option is simply something like a Kuro plus B&O speakers. Is it possible to connect B&O active speakers to a Pioneer or Panasonic TV (without the BS3)?
-
Hi Simon, CRT is a step back for me, whatever the picture quality. Also, you can't have HD on the Avant and there are no HD sockets, components and so on. It's not an option for me, particularly for the future. I'm considering the Kuro, but there are benefits I'd miss with my B&O equipment - the ability to masterlink components,

I've got to be honest, I'm underwhelmed. I've just been down to my local B&O and had a good demo of the BV7-40 MKIII. Looked at BBC HD, SD channels (through the DVB-T) and a couple of different DVDs, comparing them to my old MKI BV7. Conclusion? Surprising. BBC HD was clearly better than my MKI. I'd say the signal and quality of

David: We will always differ on opinion concerning LCD. You were very happy with your BV7 MK1 and I thought the picture was too dark and the colours were cartoon like. I would not disagree with that. I've mentioned that before. However, ever seen a 32" 'top of the range' Samsung LCD? That has further issues than simply panel-related
-
I'm not sure how you can be 'very disappointed'. That's like saying that - compared to rivals - it's somewhat around the 3/10 mark. No way. I've compared a lot of the latest TVs and I own a MKI BV7 and it's better than 2007 model Samsung LCDs. I don't know of other LCD TVs that better the BV7-40 MKIII. Certainly nothing

jvezina: Beolab: So if i plug in a separate high end DVD player with HDMI i can get better picture with even better blacks and color! Be reassured, I have an upscaling Sony DVD recorder connected via HDMI to my Beovision-7 and its picture is slightly inferior to that of the built-in DVD player (due to less sophisticated deinterlacing circuitry than
