Thank you for posting I've seen this asked a number of times, and I don't think anybody ever provided the answer. The stand communicates with the TV using a serial data protocol, and so must have its own brains doing the actual work. That Intel chip must be the microcontroller then.

Don't start with glueing things if you don't even know yet where the fault exactly is! You might just create a tone arm that can't be taken apart to fix it anymore...

I believe you could just as well wire them in parallel and omit the switch. The PC output is usually prepared to directly drive headphones, so two line level inputs in parallel can't anywhere near overload it. The end result may be quieter than now, but you can probably compensate by just cranking up the PC volume. BTW always a good idea to unplug

Phil, as I said the MCL2 technical manual is on site, and the other one really contains nothing you wouldn't already know after reading the MCL2 doc (and I already posted a direct link to the freely available version of the latter). It's not really a technical document on Datalink, just a case study on an unrelated software tool.

Or rather, join the Beogram ground to the ground on the preamp. The line level signal from there on won't need a separate shield ground, and bypassing the amp with it might just create another hum.

I believe the regulation problem is with separate connectors - they have to be factory moulded to the cable to be legal. I have some slimline fluorescent light fixtures that came with this kind of cables to allow daisy chaining them, so somebody (in China ) makes them. Don't think they were long enough for this purpose, though. If it really needs

Excellent! The panel may have become dislodged during transport. It will indeed not work if it isn't properly seated over the rubber "fingers" of the sensors. As it was loose, be extra careful with the glass panels when you move the unit in the future. They are attached to the plastic frames with two-sided tape and may become detached

Does the Beomaster get hotter than before? These Beomasters (as many others) have problems with aging trimpots in the amplifier. They may have developed a bad contact when you moved it, therefore the amp heats up too much and the protection circuit turns it off.
