If you want the best sound, consider starting elsewhere. The Beomaster 4400 is possibly the best sounding but if you want remote etc, look at a Beomaster 8000 . Both will blow the valve boys away!
-
Nothing helpful I am afraid though I am shocked that you have been treated so badly - especially as you are clearly a loyal customer. If you are getting no joy from B&O UK, and I would suggest contacting head office first, then email B&O in Denmark. You have bought an expensive set - the least you should expect is that it works.
-
Agree - typical B&O with the end being rather greater than the sum of its parts. Rather a lot fitted in a small box. The 2200 was a far better specified receiver but despite a similar style, it lacks the remote and the touch sensitive controls. And hence is not as common as they did not sell as many!

As the 10E is a US only model, I take it you are in the US? That rather precludes a swap with me as the customs on a cartridge is ridiculous! The 10E is the bottom of the range of this type of cartridge . I would suggest selling it on eBay and putting the amount raised towards a new Soundsmith SMMC4. Can't disagree with this - but I suppose it is down to situation. Shows why a good demo is important. The Lifestyle BL5s are waiting for a replacement disc I believe but will no doubt fly out of the salesroom! Tempted but simply don't listen enough to justify them!

The screen assembly is a spare part - but no doubt quite an expensive one! Part number 8053177

Tell me the application and I will try to help. How many pins does this plug have? Is it a Masterlink plug? Have you had a look in www.beotech.co.uk which is part of this site? All is free there!

I believe your namesake has a pair about to hit the market at a fair bit less! I do agree with what your sentiments are but Beolab 5s are simply so good - we were chatting to a chap in marketing at B&O who has beolab 9s and 3s who then had a listen to a friend's system of just Beolab 5s - he thinks he has the wrong system!
-
Beolab 5s will work fine in small rooms and of course can be moved to larger ones should that be necessary. The bass calibration will optimise the sound - and probably better than the Beolab 9 in my opinion.
-
Beolab 9s are good speakers - much better than the 1s they replaced. However if you are thinking of buying new 9s, consider used 5s. These are a considerable step up in every way.
