Mainly for the photo though they are 6+ foot from centre to centre. Tim is looking out for a decent 2200 for me!

You probably didn't notice that it is the half speed mastered version. Better picture of the system as a whole. The 4001 has been mine for about a year.

Nice job - do they sound better?

Second Venø system now running - Beomaster 4401, Beogram 4001 with MMC20SH and Beocord 2400 in a MC40 with M100-2 speakers. Very impressive system - just started listening to it - lots of controlled bass and detail are the first impressions. Wiring the MC40 is more of a pain than I remember!

You are very kind! However some more reviews would be good so any owners should really add their thoughts. I know Nick and Tim would appreciate it.

The lift mechanism is probably gummed u7p and will need cleaning. The fact it does not lift at all is a bit concerning as usually it is just very slow. The mechanism needs disassembling and cleaning - best done by someone who has a little experience though not beyond DIY. The service manual is on site - I think - there are, I think, two 3404s - these

I agree completely. However I doubt Tim will write it. On the Avant 32 DVD, I have one of these and like it a lot. Because it is a 100Hz model, there are some artefacts in the picture but the tubes do seem rather better than the old ones. I like the Avant - good picture and sound - and find it more pleasing that any of the LCD sets presently available

The reason the book only goes to 2000 is, as explained in the book, because it was at this point B&O stopped releasing proper service manuals and relied on module replacement instead. Much easier to do clearly, as long as the modules are available. Once they are not, the sets become next to unrepairable. This is why you will find many collectors

MS150s are excellent - at very high volumes, I find the tweeters shriek a little but I dare say that is as much the amplifier as the speaker. I had them restored some time ago and the restorer was extremely impressed with them - very flat frequency response (he tested them as he was a manufacturer of THX cinema equipment) and very good low bass response
