I suppose when I say garish I mean that as far as I am concerned the Avant is understated (although perhaps less so with the green/red variants) whereas the Beovision 3 design is such that you cannot help but have your attention drawn to it. In my opinion I would go for an Avant. Asthetically the Avant blends into the environment in which it is placed until you look at it. Whereas, if you have a Beovision 3 (again in my opinion) especially if on the stand, attention is drawn to it. I feel that you have to have modern furnishings for it not to look out of place. Oh: I get it now - nothing to do with the wall socket - I need to cut the cable that the light is hanging from and put the switch in between the ceiling and the bulb.
