Bingo: Unless B&O lowers their prices, it is not worth buying a new B&O flatpanel television. They are extremely overpriced for what they offer and the technical value is short with the fast improvements in AV-technology. Sorry, Bingo, I just had to fish this one up. Sure, Puncher! Isn't it though strange that even if both BL9 and BL5 are based on the same clever - and revered - principle, it's the 9's that force me down to my knees? When finding the sweet spot, though the 5s command even more reverence, they just don't do it to me - perhaps only once, but this was financially.

Alex: The height thing is deceiving you! The drivers in the 8000s are actually only half way up the speakers, not at the top. The height of the BeoLab 9's tweeters and midrange driver are only a few CM off the height of the drivers in the 8000s. Bear in mind that the distribution pattern of the BeoLab 9s is actually angled upwards very slightly

Just a thought: if the kids already have PCs in their rooms (plus even 32'' LCD used as a monitor, as Graigh mentioned), it might perhaps give them (relatively cheaply) a bit more additional sources if you just bought them a Beoport box (and a TV tuner card for the PC if not already included). I know it can get fairly complicated when more family
