Thanks Mico for your support. Now it is pretty clear that BS3 does not work without center.

is it then possible to select rear speakers? With my bv7 you can only select rear speakers when front ones are selected.

Alex: I'm pretty sure 'speaker 4' will just switch to 'dual stereo' mode, with the same sound coming from the front and rear speakers - not what you want! Alex is right, I want to have full surround (5.1) without center (is it 4.1 then? ;-))

Sorry if it was asked before... Can the BeoSystem3 be used without Centerspeaker, so the the center channel is reproduced through the front speakers (think it is called phantom mode)? Thanks, Marcus

dilznik: Great info, thanks. Answers all the questions well. Mostly it's the bedroom system (slave) that I'm most concerned with. But this all sounds positive enough that I should start looking for a 3000 or 9000 on ebay =) Unfortunately you can only choose Ouverture as link room product in the config guide and not 3000 or 9000. After updating to the latest version there is the problem, that if I select N.MUSIC from any room, the Beoport sw hangs: you can open the side menue and it looks like N.MUSIC is playing, but you cannot control the sw any more and no sound could be heard. It only happens when the Beoport was not in use for a certain time, e.g. one day. Has anyone observed

jandyt: I may be wrong but I think all audio masters which can be controlled by Beolink 1000/7000/5000 Beo4/5 can be put into Option 6. It just basicaly makes it so it doesn't react to an IR signal. Andy T. My old BeoCenter2300 was only able to handle option 0, 1 and 2. And I think only the latest versions of BS3000 and BS9000 are able to handle
