I've got two 9000s, a 7000m, the old 5000 and a 6500. The 9000 is definitely my favourite, Imho 6500/7000 only offers poor sound quality - the frequency response is, well, ok, but the deck sounds a bit loose and non-precise. Transients do not sound like transients, bass drums sound more like whoom than boom. The 8000/8002/8004/9000 series is much, much

Peter: Actually it would not surprise me. I am of the opinion that ICE = good and A/B = bad is simply not true! So am I. Actually, I've never heard any "expert" claim that ICE/Class D is better than A/B - on the contrary I've often heard from people that I trust that many Class D designs suffer from more distortion in the treble than a well-constructed

A big Thank You to Anders for the lovely prints!

Peter: The control surface of the 4000 is wonderful - by the way, it is not supposed to be loose - a lot are! Oops! Mine is kind of loose, I guess I'll have to take care of that then :/

jandyt: Craig, the one Peter bought to Manchester for us to 'guess' was for controlling the BM8000 I think. Don't know if it's the same as the 5000 codes. Andy T. It's the same converter, you configure it (choosing between bs5000/bc7700/bm8000/bm6000) by adjusting some jumpers inside the unit.

& Craig: ....mr anders(son): Yes, Beo4/5/5000 & 7000 will all work. What I don't know is if they will work in two-way or one-way only. From what I have seen of the unit it uses the MCL connections to control the Beomaster. Craig Yes, that's correct - you connect the ir converter to the mcl connections when used with a bs5000 or a bc7700/7007

Yes, it has its own codes (it's not bl1000 compatible) and I think it also uses a different wavelength than the later products (but I'm not sure of that one). Nice find though, the collector in me likes that it has the original radial beogram instead of the later tangential one (assuming the auction description is correct) - I'd like to find a 500 system

Ah, the old b&o trick "use over-dimensioned amps to compensate for small box volume" :-) Not the best way to build a speaker, as it often leads to non-linear behaviour - usual frequency plots look good, but when fed with a more dynamic signal (such as music) the result is not as good. I'm not saying saying b&o make bad speakers, I'm just saying that

David: OK! Sorry but MX = ugly and annonymous imho. Sorry! !!! I guess you're too young to know how other tvs looked like at the time when the MX was introduced :-) I'd say the design of the MX revolutionised (is that a word in English?) tv design My favourites: 1. The MX2000. A true design classic and icon 2. The LX6000 in palisander. The best-looking
