We are of one mind - that trip to Struer has a lot to answer for!

Beolab 3s are great speakers but I must confess that I think they are seriously under utilised as rear speakers. I would be very tempted to put Beolab 4000s at the rear - the advantage of the ALT lens in the Beolab 3 may actually be a disadvantage in the setting you have as the treble will lack vertical dispersion. The point source of the 4000 will

Trim parts are tricky as you basically need a donor unit - or re-make the parts - a member remade some aerial tips a few years ago. The panels, as Soren says, can be painted - the one on the forum was done so well that I bought myself a 700 to get the same done, only to find the cheap one I bought was in perfect condition! I didn't have the heart

You are right - a really friendly and amusing chap - having to deal with Lee and myself - certainly I have cloth ears and I think Lee would agree that his didn't seem a lot more discerning with some of our observations! We had a thoroughly splendid trip. Although it was not planned that way, the date of our trip actually co-incided with my birthday

I have not closed this thread because there are more comments and because I think it raises a number of thoughts. I think an owner can do whatsoever he likes to a product he has bought. I confess to being the owner of the Beogram 4001 which is a fake - it is a Beogram 6000 which had been left in a damp cellar and was beyond proper cosmetic repair. It

Not sure I like the way this thread is going. I will make two points: 1. I don't actually have a problem with someone modifying the frame of a Panasonic set to mimic that of a BV4. Seems a little pointless as the clever bit is the processing and I look at the TV and not the frame, but each to his own. However I do object to obtaining a frame by

He finished the demo by playing ' Also sprach Zarathustra ' and these speakers go down to less than 15Hz. The sensation was stunning - if not altogether pleasurable! Although not confirmed as being used, he did talk about some very long throw bass units with some affection! The speakers were at the first stage of equalisation so he still had

Have had both - for a big room, I would have the S120s but the BL3s are a lovely small speaker. Played at high volumes, the S120s are superior but at normal and low volumes, the BL3s are hard to beat.

Nothing wrong with the amp in the 9500 and it will power S45.2s perfectly well. You will get a bit more bass with the BL4000s and a little more subtlety with the S45.2s. I would take the latter.

One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to Geoff Martin, the B&O tonmeister, who is responsible for the voicing of the B&O range. His reputation was well trailed by Lee who described him as a chap who could make the composition of a billiard ball sound exciting. He started by demonstrating the work he had done on the Beosound 8. Using
