• On how to extrapolate past into the future...

Every now and then, you can read various predictions on how the future of technology is going to form in the following years, the writers often being quite certain with their opinions. Since it is now 10 years since the turn of the millennium, it is a good opportunity to look back how everything went after all. Here's an interesting rundown on the

  • Re: Form 1 Headphones

First, confirm that your speakers are connected to speaker 1 outputs on the Beomaster; only those will be muted by inserting a headphone plug. Anyway, it sounds like the headphone socket in your Beomaster may have been damaged. This happens easily if someone has yanked on the cable sometime in the past. It's possible that just a solder joint of

  • Re: Beomaster 900K & a novice needing help

Perhaps you are just expecting too much of it. Remember, this is a ~45 years old radio from the very early days of transistorized technology. I have three BM900's and they all hiss. The germanium transistors are noisy by themselves, as are the old mass carbon resistors. The dark sound may or may not be normal, hard to say without actually hearing

  • Re: My Beomaster 900K needs illuminating....MES Bulbs?

6 V / 300 mA (1.8 W), E10 socket (MES = Miniature Edison Screw, the same as E10). These are nothing fancy nor rare, but the 6V types are usually only available in specialist electronics stores. I was once too lazy to go any farther than the nearest we-have-everything kind of store, got some 3V flashlight bulbs and modified the circuit to have the bulbs

  • Re: How to clean the Beosound 4 base ???
I will try to find those products in Mexico........ I put the toothpaste and wait to dry or what ??? Thanks
No - rub it with your fingers. Then remove it with water and a soft cloth and see if you made any improvement. Try on a non-visible area first if you can...

But really, Autosol is about the best product for this kind of jobs, closely followed by Autoglym Metal Polish. If you want to test a cheap solution first, try some toothpaste applied with your fingers. It may work just fine and at least will not do any damage (the "real" compounds are more abrasive). You'll end up with sore fingertips

  • Re: Help with humming noise with Beogram 1001

All you need is an electrical contact - no matter really how you achieve it.

  • Re: Beomaster 900K & a novice needing help

Just to clarify how to make sense of transistors with a multimeter, using the diode test range: C-E: infinity (i.e non-conducting) BOTH WAYS B-E: infinity the other way, conducting the other way B-C: infinity the other way, conducting the other way So it is not enough to test just one direction. Which way will conduct on the B-E and B-C tests will depend

  • Re: Will we 'own' music in future?
Similarly, most very young people only know of a CD because their parents have them at home. They don't buy them nor do they ask for them as presents. Music is something intangible that exists within their MP3 player, having been sourced from somewhere in the ether and able to be instanly erased and replaced with

  • Re: Is this B and O?

I think it is - I can't find an exact match among the system cabinets that are pictured on site, but furniture like that was definitely available for these Beocenters.
