• Re: New Bang&Olufsen audio/video concept for every pocket
Nah, just cheap Danish plastic!
Cheap? Recently I fixed the GF's Philips vacuum cleaner. After having diagnosed a burned motor I was sure the vacuum was a writeoff, but decided to check the spare parts pricing anyway - was quite a bit surprised to get a new motor and a bunch of various fixings, gaskets etc
You probably just searched the Beogram section, this thread was actually posted in the workbench section as tends to happen frequently. You just need to know where to look for these things
And to tell the truth, the forum search function is utterly useless. I use Google limited to the forum site: here's

If it has less than 12 HDMI sockets I'm not going to buy it.
Martin has, in his infinite kindness, proposed to send me a recap kit free of charge, in exchange of some detailed informations about my specific subversion of the 900K, which apparently isn't the most common kind (well, uncommon enough for him to not have encountered one).
Both of you! To tell the truth

  • Re: Beomaster 900K & a novice needing help

I actually just opened up my 900M (please don't praise me for that effort, I was going to do it anyway ) and took a similar measurement across the main filter cap - I'm not at my "lab", so I only have an el cheapo multimeter here, not unlike the one you have. Guess what, it shows 77.5 V on the 200V AC scale, and there's definitely

I actually managed to find the schematic of your multimeter on the friendly interwebs. Seems to me that it simply isn't designed to measure an AC voltage riding on a DC bias, as is the case when you try to measure the ripple voltage on the supply lines. It has half-wave rectification on the AC range and probably shows the DC bias + the AC voltage

Even the cheapest multimeters are generally quite useful. Those readings are so odd that it makes me as well think your multimeter's AC range is faulty or there is something really strange going on in the measurement that makes it show potatoes. Try measuring some known pure AC signal, like the voltage over the dial light bulbs (should show 6-7

Funny that it is rotated exactly 180° - makes one think even more that they were aware of what they were doing

  • Re: THE SILVER YEARS...........
Reason I write ..... my brother recently aquired a Pioneer SA 8800 Amp, Luxman deck with Ortofon moving coil cartridge & Celestion Ditton speakers. To be blunt, I have a reasonable vintage collection of B&O systems including Penta's and his "silver gear" blows me away - against my set up's
