Unfortunately I don't have a spare. In fact I don't have any!!! If I get hold of a working cartridge it sells straight away. I have decks that are just waiting for a good cartridge to come by. By the time you have posted cartridge and received it back you will be well on the way to paying for a new one from Soundsmith!

If my reading of the circuit is correct, when the switch is depressed (muted) the output of both channels is shorted to ground. Therefore removing the switch completelyshould disable the muting function but the deck should work.

Hi Richard, Have you tried another cartridge?

I have 6 Beocom 6000's around the house. All purchased on ebay in various states of disrepair and all fixed and working for next to nothing. The majority required new batteries (£7.50p) and one required a new set of buttons (£15). All working fine and have been for many months now. My suggestion is either continue discussions with Keith

The sound quality from your pentas is being constrained by the relatively mediocre amplifier in the BC9500. Either get a pair of Lab 200's to put under your voxes or use the powerlink output with a special lead to a more powerful stand alone amplifier. There are many on the market but I have achieved good results with a QUAD405

redfresnel: Yes, i considered that option too. But it seems that all the 6500 bunches on sale lack the Beogram and buying one separately seems to be quite expensive, bearing in mind that i already have one. :) Too bad it's of a diffrent color...How much it matters is just another opinion thing. OK so look for a 5500 system and use your existing

Craig: Seem to remember it been said that the different clampers are all interchangeable. Think it was Graham (Joeyboygolf) who said this. Not 100% sure though. Craig Quite correct Craig, 'twas I. They are indeed all interchangeable and surprisingly the cheapest one to buy as a spare part is the polished chrome one as fitted to the 3200!

It will probably be more cost effective to buy the rest of the system as one lump rather than as separates. For some strange reason, the 6500 systems don't seem to make as much money on ebay as they should! Just my considered opinion mind you, I am sure others will not agree!!

Best wishes to one and all.
