However, it would be nice to still have the option of playing CDs on my BeoCenter 2 on the rare occasion that I might need to.
Try this: pressing "DVD" starts a CD with OSD on your TV pressing "LIST" and selecting "AV" + "DVD" should start

Indeed, the U.S. Avant is very different from the Avant used in the rest of the world. Early models of the U.S. Avant are plagued with a faulty component input. If you're using the component connection, that could be the problem. There is a kit for a serviceman to fix this, but I understand it to be rather costly. There are two typical symptoms

I, too, recently purchased a newer-model Samsung BD player and encountered this same issue. I'm wondering if others have been encountering this problem and if they've gotten any feedback from B&O tech support. I can't imagine what could be different about the Samsung component connection that makes it incompatible with the BeoSystem

I think you're going to have some problems. I was told when the Beomaster 5 was released that there was no way to control it (without a BeoSound 5) via a BeoSystem 1. B&O advised that they were working on a solution to use an external IR control. That was over a year ago. It's my understanding that they still haven't provided a solution

Just an update: I've disconnected the ML cable from the BeoCenter 2 and made the BeoSound 5 the new audio master. After re-assigning the n.music to the "CD" button and the n.radio to the "RADIO" button via the BeoSound 5 I am now able to MUCH more easily call up my BeoSound music using beo4 remotes throughout my home. This simple
Steve Job's advice on the "really coolly engineered" antenna problems - "don't hold it that way"! Either that or buy a £25 elastic band to wrap around it! Absolutely incredible/laughable. Only Apple could release something like this and seemingly get away with it - any other company
You can effectively only have one N.MUSIC server in the house. Could you describe your setup... which element (TV, audio) you've got in which room... P.
The latest update to the BeoSound 5 now allows multiple BeoMaster 5 / BeoSound 5 units to be connected to the ML in a home. I'm not sure how this
You can effectively only have one N.MUSIC server in the house. Could you describe your setup... which element (TV, audio) you've got in which room... P.
I was hoping that maybe the BeoSound 5 would "free up" the N.MUSIC command to be used by the BeoPort if the BeoSound 5 N.MUSIC was re-assigned
My understanding was that the options would not matter when it comes to calling up a core function like CD or Radio through the Beo4. It is sort of hardwired - that is the beauty about the Beo 5 since it is more flexible in this regards.
JK- With the BeoSound 5 there is the capability of re-assigning n.music

I just tried using LinkPlayer in a setup that has a BeoSound 5 and had no success distributing the iTunes music through the MasterLink. I had made my BeoSound 5 the Audio Master and programmed it to use the "CD" Beo4 button for it's own N.Music. It seems the BeoSound 5 will still not allow a MasterLink control of LinkPlayer using either
