  • Re: What is this cable used for?

Hi everyone, Sorry to arrive at this post so late in the day! To summarise, this type of cable is intended to add a non-B&O turntable (specifically those such as Rega Planar 3 with captive RCA leads) to an earlier type Beomaster or BeoCenter that has a built-in RIAA pre-amplifier. However, as mentioned previously, it can also be used to connect

  • Re: Beolab 8000 + non-B&O sources

Hi, Ralf is correct, the Beolab 8000 remains active when in Line mode, the difference is that they no longer switch on when the B&O source triggers them. Instead, they listen for sounds through the audio channel and switch on automatically, staying on until the music has been silent for 3 minutes, when they go back into standby. They do need to

  • Re: What type of Powerlink cable is this? (Picture)

Hi Kim, Mark 3 Powerlink is the same, but without the thick white wire (this carries data for speakers with displays). Mark 3 has a blue wire instead for voltage reference (replaces the data ground inside the white wire). Full wiring diagram here:- http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/wiring2.htm Best regards, Steve.

  • Re: What type of Powerlink cable is this? (Picture)

Hi, This is mark 2 Powerlink. Here's how you can tell:- 1) The thick white wire contains data and data ground cores (this is only present in mark 2 cable) 2) The tinned spiral screens are left and right audio 3) The three coloured wires (yellow, pink and grey) are switching conductors, eg. power on and overload. This cable is fine for any Beolab

  • Re: Non bang and Olufsen Speakers

Hi John, What brand and model of speakers are you planning to use? The most common type of active speakers I deal with (other than B&O) are Meridian and these can vary in their suitability. It is worth bearing in mind that some Meridian models are designed for balanced audio inputs, which adds a degree of complication when connecting to the unbalanced

  • Re: Beolab 3 as PC speakers

Thanks Peter! I was trying to be helpful without wanting to promote my own products, so I appreciate the recommendation! A growing number of franchises are also stocking my cables, so there is now a better choice available on the high street, as well as online. I'm always happy to answer any enquiries, especially regarding cabling... Best regards

  • Re: Using a combined Masterlink & Aerial Cable

Hi everyone, Just a quick "spanner" to throw into the works! Whilst I agree that the combined Masterlink and Aerial cable is a smart idea, I would argue that Powerlink and mains power should NOT be combined together, especially not for long cable runs. One of the first things you learn when studying electronics (after "don't cut the

  • Re: Beolab 3 as PC speakers

Hi chrisped, You need a stereo 3.5mm mini-jack to connect to the PC and two 7 pin DIN plugs for the Beolab 3's. Don't use a cable with 5 pin DIN plugs fitted, as this won't have the voltage reference pin connected, so it may cause humming noises through the speakers. Some dealers are selling a combination of three cable adapters to do this
