• Re: Timer

I don't believe the BS5 can start a timer. It can only respond to timers from a video master. At least this is what the FAQ on the B&O site implies (no mention of starting a timer). Also, the option to select "play timer" from the roles menu is only available when the BS5 is configured as an "audio master" which means there

  • Re: MOTS "exclude" doesn't always exclude

If excluding albums doesn't work, then the system should not let you do it. Btw, the song I originally complained about is only on 1 album in my collection... Especially for Christmas songs - where one will probably want to periodically include/exclude these tracks, the ability to exclude by album is really a must. Stan

  • Re: M4P to WMA ?

Just want to correct something I said above... there now appears to be software to convert Apple Lossless to WMA Lossless... although the two tools I learned of in another thread (winamp and dbpoweramp music converter) do not appear to run on the Mac. Stan

  • Re: Can people tell me what exactly is the point of mp3, ipods, etc......?
You can spend exactly zero amount of time pulling hairs out as if you at a later date choose to use Macs and Apple's variant, you simply convert them to it with absolutely no loss whatsoever. A fortnight later, you may decide that you want open source, so you choose FLAC - but only after having tried WMA Lossless

  • N.Radio favo(u)rites?

I find the massive N.Radio list daunting. Does anybody have any favo(u)rites they would like to share (or if this has already been discussed in the Mac/PC forum, a link would be great)? I've heard "Radio Paradise" mentioned a few times in other topics. For oddly entertaining, I like the "Brass Band" channel (no offense to any

  • Re: MOTS "exclude" doesn't always exclude

My excluded songs/albums do show in the "Exclude" list, but every once in a while, it does not pay attention I wonder if it is an album vs. song issue. That is, maybe excluded songs work, but when you exclude the entire CD, not so much... Stan

  • Re: M4P to WMA ?

WMA is not necessarily better, just different. To my ears, it sounds better than mp3 at lower bit rates, but this difference goes away with higher bit rates (~256kps). Then again, the WMA could be lossless which is the preferred format for the BS5 because it is lossless, and the only option that allows for gapless playback (maybe WAV does this, but

  • Re: The Loudness Wars

This loudness/compression crap on CDs is annoying and IMHO ruining the music... even as background music, it is especially bothersome with the BS5 since the mix of old and new CDs leads to need to constantly adjusting the volume. I've also learned the hard way that "remastered" is not always better. I've lost CDs over the years and

  • Re: BeoVision 7-40" LED, when ?
EU Version / US Version
You're referring to the update of the BV8-40, correct? That is, the spec sheet that you indicate is wrong in your previous post applies to the EU, not the US, correct? I've seen a BV8-40 with 3 HDMI, but it was in the US. Don't know if it was 200MHz screen, but it did have

  • MOTS "exclude" doesn't always exclude

So, with the recent software upgrade and the ability to exclude music from the MOTS queue, I thought it was safe to load up Frank Zappa's Sheik Yerbouti. I carefully used the exclude feature for the entire album as there are only a few songs that are safe for "all ages". Yesterday, I had a house full of 11-12 year old girls over w/parents
