An area that I thought needed degaussing due to disclouration was in fact nothing more than a slight accumulation of dust behind the front glass screen (over about 18 years!). Careful removal of the screen ( see the manual - not a difficult task) and a good clean has restored the whole screen to its full original colour. Brian

I went into long correspondence back in 1986 with B&O about this! Having just bought a 5000 system I was mightly aggrieved to discover that it was not truly compatible with the LX2800, VHS91 and new Beolink remote. They sent me all the manuals and literature and at no stage did anyone mention a possible work around! Perhaps they were jsut hoping

The battery symbol has come on whilst the LCD is still clearly legible. The symbol appears part of way through a multtiple operation (ie something form list), then the entire screen goes balnk. If the command is simply a single source eg CD, then there appears to be enough power to do that. Brian

My 1986 Master Control Link System 2 System Manual states: As far as the operating principples are concerned, the MCL2A is identical with the previous MCL82, but in terms of technology the MCL2A has been adapted to B&Os A/V system. This also means that the MCL2A cannot be used with old Bang and Olufsen products. The "old" products listed

Lego derives from the Danish "leg godt" or play well. That is something one hopes all B&O does (but is probalaby most appropriate for Beograms)! However the bricks from Lego vary in size from slim, standard, large to ones for under 3 year olds that are ultra large (Duplo)! I still quite like my idea of using all or part of a (mint condition

Thanks for all the replies so far - I notice that everyone so far has stuck to "traditional" batteries - no one opting for rechargeable! I use rechargeable ones in the MCP 6500 as ordinary just do not last and have been using some Beolinks with them too. Brian

Does anyone have any particular recommendation for type of batteries to use in these remotes (apart from 3 AAA for anyone looking to provide a clever response!)? Brand and battery type eg NiCad, NiMh (low or high milli amp?), Carbon Zinc I ask as one of my BEO4s has just had the word battery appear in the LCD - though there is still some life left in

Which CD player is it ? If it is the CD50 then the discs need to be very clean. The CD 5500 is generally more robust in terms of ability to play discs, though many argue the CD50 is the sweeter sounding. Brian

These are no relation to the 3702 speaker. If you look at the front grille of the 3705 it is from an earlier time - the logo and the cloth are very different. They are closer in appearance to the earliest 5000 from the late 60s - probably this was part of the replacement speaker range for the Type S, B and M. I do not have the 3705 in any of my catalogues

A new BM4400 in rosewood that I had bought to replace a BM4000. I sold it in the mid 1980s to help fund the latest 5000 system BG5000, BM5000, BC5000 and MCP5000 plus RL60 speakers (latter traded in for RL140s on their launch). Brian
