No, don't paint them. They're just brushed aluminum. By rubbing fingers on them over many years, the finger plus the oils on the skin start to lightly polish the metal. To "unpolish" them you'd just use some ultra fine sand paper. I'd probably try 2000 grit (note, not 200!). If you look closely on the metal you'll see a

Yes. A Beomaster 5500 will likely cost less than a Beomaster 6500, but the aluminum on the front won't look the same. So if appearance doesn't matter, then that could work.

Well I tried changing the c2103 cap just for the heck of it, and no it didn't make a difference. As you said Bogener, the schematic looks like the cap is mainly for tracking and reading. I used an ohm meter to make sure the pins in the cable are in contact with the 4 points on the circuit board where they connect, and I don't see any issues

If they're Penta 2's, then just use powerlink cables. The 3500 has powerlink right? I'm just assuming so since the 4500 has it.

Yes, I know. Two 4500 issues in one day. I had wanted to resolve the beomaster one first though, which I did. So here's my other problem. When I play this CD4500 I just acquired all I get is a high pitched ringing sound coming through the speakers. All the tracks on the CD are displayed, and I can skip through and play any track I want, but all

Aha, I hadn't thought that it could be set to slave mode by the previous owner. Easy fix with the beolink - Sound > 1 > Store Austin

Hey Guys, Just as the post says. I have a beomaster 4500 that doesn't respond to the beolink 1000 remote (I did try two different remotes). Any one have any ideas before I take the thing apart and start fiddling around? Thanks, Austin
