Even dumber is the retard (me) who restored several cassette players over the winter but only actually has a few cassettes to play on them. But but .. it completes the set.

Actually I was a bit surprised when you said you had not soldered or done any work at the component level in quite awhile. I have read a number of your posts over the years and watched a number of your eBay auctions. I figured you to be a tech geek like some of the rest of us. That aside. you do know the brand.

I just finished refoaming a set of S.80's a few weeks back. I typically use a D cell battery to center the driver while glueing up the outer ring. Easy enough job. all that needed is a soft touch and a bit of patience. A speaker crossover is about as good a place to reaquaint yourself with soldering and desoldering as I can think of. My way of keeping the Beocord alive. I am listening to Club de Belugas using a Griffin car cassette to iPod adapter. It works pretty darned well. The Beocords are truly a wonderful piece of equipment.

I opted for an electrolytic replacement of the old tantalums. If I get my hands on another one of these I would probably go for a like kind for like kind restoration. I hope it all works out.
