The way I see it this is a product liability issue. The safety feature was added to prevent any lawsuits.

I experience the same problem with one of my Beo4's. When you take the batteries out and put them back it goes into TV mode as normal. When I push a random button I get an IR signal (checked with camera) and the TV turns on (I get a black screen, but this is probably because I've got no video). At the same time the Beo4 turns in V TAPE mode

I agree with Alex. The main issue here is that with a Beovision 8 you can't have surround sound and 4 speakers aren't better for music than 2 speakers. The only thing you can do (at least in my opinion) is replace your existing Beolab 2500's with Beolab 4000's or better still Beolab 3's. Perhaps not the answer you were hoping for

The Beolab 8000 will probably have the same treatment as the Beolab 4000. This means that the Class AB amplifiers will be replaced by Class D (ICE) amplifiers. The Class D amplifiers are smaller and maybe there will be room to fit another driver. I don't think the revised Beolab 8000 will get ALT technology. That would be rather difficult to incorporate

I have a Beosound 2300 with Beolab 2500's mounted on the wall in my study. This really is a small room and I think the sytem really works very well there. I actually quite like the sound, although it is clearly nowhere near as good as the superb Beolab 3's. Personally I wouldn't spent any money on the Beolab 2. It's a bit slow and boomy
