jk1002: One more thing, I wouldn't be surprised if we see an upgraded Mac Mini over the next 12 month that becomes more of a media center, i.e. it runs without keyboard and can be fed from an itunes library just like ITV or Ipod. Yes, and very likely with HDMI out.

Though to be fair to the AppleTV. It's an inexpensively priced unit intended to tie all your harddisk stored AV sources together through wireless, and the intention is that one would get an AppleTV for each flatscreen. The AppleTVs can then "talk" with the Mac Mini or other storage devices (computers, NADs, etc). It's just that I also

Flappo posted the best review I've read to date of the AppleTV. It confirmed my opinion that I'll be getting a MacMini, since I can then also play media discs. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07/05/24/some_time_spent_with_apple_tv____an_in_depth_review.html

wtlc2zpx: Lossless encoding is... lossless: when decompressed the file is idfentical to the original one. Like when you unzip a word document, you haven't lost a letter. However, some CD player may be better at rendering a CD than the Airport express D to A chip. I would think most CD players with a half decent DAC, if you're using the analog

Here's something I'd like to be able to do. Is it possible? The Beogram CD 6500 has a coaxial S/PDIF out. I want to take that signal, route it through my Benchmark DAC-1 and return it to the Beomaster 7000 amp through Tape2. Naturally, when I select Tape2, the CD-player is paused. Is there any way around this? Would be great to be able to use

There's another option for you, which I thought would be excessive, but that really would make your BL3s come alive, not just for TV-watching, but also for listening to music. Buy a Benchmark DAC-1. I have the USB one. It connects to a variety of digital sources and converts these to an analog signal, that you then send to your BL3s. You can use

Quite a bit of info in Lee's first post on the draw, check out that thread. "Peter! Do you have the time for the draw?"

The variable attenuator will allow you to set a general level for the audio out signal. The attenuator "dampens" the strength of the signal, without distorting it. You'll probably spend a little time fiddling until you get a level you like, and then you won't have to get up and adjust it any more. I'll see if I can find one that
