Retain at least the small, easy to remove parts such as the knobs. Somebody will want them sooner or later. If the front panel is in good condition, it might be worth saving as well. And the power transistors, but removing them becomes work already...

My Beocenter 8000 has developed some problems with the touch panel, which until today worked flawlessly. Apparently at least the "volume down" pad is much too sensitive. It will decrease the volume if I put my hand within 1 cm of that end of the panel, and sometimes even slowly decreases the volume without anybody being near the machine. I

You must know everything about options, so nothing about that... I had a BM7000 (well, still have at the GF's place) which had a really lousy remote control range, both in and out. Before I knew about the clips, I used a blunt thin knife to pry off the grilles on mine which worked, but is obviously not the way to do it... (especially not on your own speakers ) But I still can't work out how to properly push the clips open, even if I try! So I agree with Peter, better not open them.
