Took me ages to remember how to write a post on this blog - the GT6 picture got in the way! Had a most enjoyable time with Lee travelling to Denmark to collect my restored Beolab 5000 system. First day was a little strained as some muppet drove into the back of me, breaking not only the Prius bumper but also the Sat Nav which we were relying on to get

Your support is much appreciated.

Rather depends on what you want. B&O still sell the original cables with 2 pin plugs at one end and sockets at the other. Maplins in the UK sell both 2 pin DIN plugs and sockets so that you can choose which wire to use. If you go for the B&O variety, get the extension cable, not the speaker wire as the wire on the extension has both the plugs

A number of 2400s have been modified to remove the RIAA to allow an extra line level input - useful for CD players etc. It probably has the RIAA in it but taken out of the circuit.

You'll not get a lot for Pentas these days I am afraid. You can play with the settings of the Beolab 1s if you want though I actually rather like the sound - it should be very clear and detailed. Pentas sound nice because they have a bass lift - a bit like having the loudness on!

Normal listening is at about 1W. Think about your portable rasio at full volume - that is really quite loud but is unlikely to be more than 1 or 2 watts. The important part of an amplifier is its ability to react to sudden transients and have plenty of power in reserve. Clearly different music uses more power - bass frequencies require more power as

[quote user="AdamAnt316"] The Black Tulip! I'm not sure I have much luck of finding a 4000/4002/4004, never mind one of those beauties. Interesting that you found white easier to print than black; usually, it's the other way around (I had to buy a special printer in order to be able to print white-on-clear decals for aircraft models

Actually I had forgotten that the 1602 had the new 1700 type arm! The principle is the same though. Set the weight to 0 and make sure the arm floats - you do this by rotating the weight counting the numbers down. Once the arm floats, check the dial reads zero. If It is not., hold the black weight steady and move the silver dial to zero. Check the arm

S45-2 speakers are one of B&Os best. Not as much bass as the S75 but probably a more accurate speaker. Never bothered with ambio - I did try it just to see what it was like and was not overly impressed - I prefer stereo!

B&O systems are made to go with each other. The output from an MMC cartridge is actually a bit lower than a standard moving magnet cartridge so you will need to take that into account. I am surprised the BC5000 sounds rotten with the Technics deck though - maybe it needs servicing and there might be something odd going on with the input - try a
