Puncher: very much in the minority, worrying about details of picture quality etc. The primary reason that the flat panel revolution happened when it has (as a minor miracle of marketing triumphing over product quality) is that the majority bought the "flat is better" story without apparently noticing the poor quality pictures... Worse, people

I doubt you'll see an internal blu-ray drive in the BV7 as B&O would be the only manufacturer to ship a TV with blu-ray built-in. The format is not that secure and, as we know, B&O like to see how the market develops. At the moment, the primary source of blu-ray playback is through the PS3 or external blu-ray drive. A PS3 is a superb option

355f: Then BnO can charge a huge price when everyone else is selling it for next to nothing. Im sure the company line of 'waiting till technology matures' is more to do with buying price! Doubt it. You can buy a relatively cheap Blu-ray internal drive for your PC these days. It's purely due to the lack of interest in HD-based DVDs generally

jazz: i'm not suggesting that HD downloads will be available in the immediate future but just look look forward as little as 5 years. I think by then most of the developed world will have extremely fast internet. I totally agree that i don't see B&O building in a Bluray drive. I hope they don't. I would like them to make a stand alone

a2bur: Makes you wonder why B&o went for the Lcd screen over Plasma in 7-40 , would appear to have solved a lot of picture issues . Richard There are NO picture issues with the right source. Upscaled SD content is excellent and true HD content is superb. The only downside is poor SD content and that really applies to fast-moving content, such as

jazz: This then leads to the question of downloading HD content... People like to 'collect' discs. That's why people still buy CDs. Besides, I have a 24MB broadband connection and even this can be woefully slow on a Sunday afternoon or between 6pm and 11pm....the time when I'd want to download/stream HD content. Blu-ray discs are still

355f: Why should the purchasers of this 'exclusive product' be placed in this position in the first place? 355F, in fairness we could also say that at least B&O made the effort to come out and spend time evaluating the problem and updating my software. Would a Sony engineer do the same? Would a Sharp engineer? At least it can be updated
-
Alex: For what you want to do, the BeoVision 7-40 is the only 'seamless' solution. The software has now been fixed so SD appears much better than the original 'pixellated' image many reported. Alex, I'd strongly suggest you look at these 'fixes' yourself before making statements like that. It's almost offensive to MKIII

a2bur: What' the best alternative to the Bv7-40 , I cannot justify the price tag for a less than perfect Tv ? I was a whisker away from ordering one but after going to PcWorld for a cable I was distracted by there Tv's , superb picture ( Starwars ) and a 50" for £999 , don't know what SD picture is like on it thou , but the 7

Even worse: http://www.reuters.com/article/companyNewsAndPR/idUSL1627196120080216 Toshiba are planning a swift exit from the HD-DVD market, meaning that there will no HD-DVD players in the future.
