• Re: best possible b&o speakers for my beolab 5000 amp (1970 model)

This is unfortunately a horrible mess around that kit, I'm not going to show it to anybody! @Stephen: I guess you can safely follow Frede's advice if you want "the best" - but as you can see from the other answers, you can use just about anything! I've also tried mine with Pentas and S80.2s and they were just great.
I have recently moved my BL/BM setup to a large nightstand next to my bed and added a pair of 2200's. Though they are lowly rated, I never play it loudly in the bedroom anyway. As a side note they are a perfect match. The cabinets are the same thickness and grain and it really looks great together -as if made for

  • Re: Redline 60 speaker stand adjustment screw

I'm not with my RLs now, but wasn't it so that the threads for the screw are in the speaker itself and not the stand? If so, remove the support prop and the rectangular metal bracket under it from the speaker (only four screws) and take the bracket with you to a hardware store to try what fits. It'll be a metric thread anyway... if you have
@mika Yes, this is raw concrete! I left this wall untouched during construction. That was 6 years ago, and most of the people in that time asked me " and what will come to that unfinished wall"
Don't finish it! I love it Looks like it was designed as a backdrop for that kit!

  • Re: Fatman Tube/ valve amplifier with B&O speakers

I agree with Simon. If you take a modern valve amplifier and put it against any good transistor amp (even from 30 years back) in the lab, it will lose in just about every aspect. But, valve amps have the advantage that most of their imperfections actually sound good. While a transistor amp approaching its limits will create odd-numbered harmonics that
Was telling some of the youth team at the Medical School about it the other day and they thought I was taking the rise when I was recounting how packets of crisps used to cost 9 1/2 pence!
I'd kill myself if I had to work fractional money every day! It won't take long until I can confuse the kids

Nice! Is that wall raw concrete or just something that looks like it?

But seriously, it's a great book, no matter what the price. I got one of the first Beoworld batch of signed copies while waiting for another from Amazon. It was a little cheaper on Amazon even then - but I had to wait months for that copy since it was backordered all the time!
