jandyt: And this one as he worked away on an old Beogram motor. Notice the lack of debris on his work bench! I wish mine was like that. Yes, I got kind of humbled by seeing how absolutely tidy Frede was keeping his place. I would need time to find a couple of classic B&O speaker plugs that I know I have somewhere in the kitchen ...

Place them as you would a pair of audiophile "traditional" speakers, with care and attention to potential unwanted reflections and standing waves -- then you'll end up with a pair of speakers that will outgun most other speakers on the planet. Follow the "recommendation" that you can place them anywhere, and you end up with speakers

Looking forward to the pic's from Frede's place. I've been a lucky visitor myself - and the Beolab/Beomaster 5000 in my avatar are Frede's work.

Alex: Yes, I see no reason why not. Do you have the correct adapter for the MacBook? The digital output is hidden in the standard headphones connection and you need an adapter to enable it. Alex is right. The signal out of your MacBook is TOSLINK Optical. Get a TOSLINK Minijack to TOSLINK plug cable; a TOSLINK to S/PDIF COAXIAL converter; a digital

rippi: Sorry if asked before, but will this new version be SACD compatible ? Regards Harald I have been told "no" - but I haven't read the final spec's.

You're right. But Musicgiants are adamant that their encoding is lossless. However, it doesn't matter whether your file is lossless, if your playback setup isn't. I was very surprised when I got my Benchmark DAC and learned that if I don't set the Mac to output music at full volume, the computer will process the music and it won't

WMA, is a lossless compacted (rather than lossy compressed) format -- and it is bit-by-bit true to the original. Unfortunately, the downloads from Musicgiants can't be converted to other formats without workaround. Yes, I have tried MusicGiants, though they are delivering to the PC platform and I'm a Mac-addict. Wanted to point it out, though

Behold the future of music downloads. While Apple and EMI are notching up the bitrate just a touch, Musicgiants is jumping to full CD transparency (with the promise of 24 bit resolution in the future). Exlusive full resolution download of Paul McCartney's latest (plus thousands of other releases), with the opportunity to have a long interview with

I kind of found it humorous that the question about where one's televisions are placed didn't have "dedicated media room" (BeoLiving) as an option ...

I use a Beolink 5000, and really like the two-way feedback on CD tracks, etc. Works perfectly and would be my recommended remote for that setup. I have an MCP 6500, but mostly use it for programming, etc - as it's too big to move about conveniently (same with the Beolink 7000, in my opinion, compared to the compact Beolink 5000).
