  • Re: Beolab 8000 or Beolab 9 - with B7

355f: Alex: Not only that, but when using BeoLab 9s, you can also use a 7-4 centre channel without any resultant 'lumps' in the sound-stage, and the 7-4 is ultimately, far far better as a centre channel than the 7-1 or 7-2. Each to their own of course! but on anotehr thread we are duscussing the merits of 7.1 v 7.4 and in most cases we cant

  • Re: I'm sure most of you have seen this Avant, i mean Xentia!

I'm not sure of the details of what happened, but somebody who's been in the AV business for a very long time told me that was in fact the TV which killed Grundig.

  • Re: What I really want is Beolab 3s on steroids!

I don't think anybody should be leaving the forum just due to a difference in opinion. Everybody's entitled to their own beliefs, and even if others strongly disagree with them (as is the case here), you should stick by your opinion, and not let it affect you in unwanted ways...

I would personally go with the 9s. They kick out plenty of low end, and you can always add a sub afterwards if you want, but I don't think you'll ever feel the need to do this... The 2 would kick out more low end, but it won't be anywhere near as well controlled and detailed as the bass from the 9s, and the 9s will go louder in the high-end than the

  • Re: Want to play keyboard + Mac

One of these Link would be suitable for your needs (there's a smaller option available, but I'd recommend the large one, more notes to play with ), and this . Just connect directly to the Mac via USB, and it'll work straight away with GarageBand. You'll probably also want some decent speakers connected to your Mac, unless you've got one of the newer

  • Re: What is the difference between BL7.1 and BL7.4?

As Beoaus says, the 7.1 is designed to be used as a stereo speaker by itself as well. The 7.4 is designed to be used ONLY as a centre channel, and is hence, much much better at that job.

  • Re: What I really want is Beolab 3s on steroids!

Of course there is personal preference, but saying BeoLab 3s are more natural than BeoLab 5s is like saying a Lotus can go as fast as a Bugatti. BeoLab 3s have a much lumpier response than the BeoLab 5s, response graphs would be absolute proof of this. The BeoLab 5s are MUCH more faithful than the 3s, although that doesn't necessarily make them better

  • Re: Want to play keyboard + Mac

They're great, I've got something very similar, and they are quick and easy. However, for learning keys, a weighted keyboard will be better. 'Keyboards' (with non-weighted keys) tend to be more difficult to get decent dynamics, and everything will end up being really loud and angular. A proper keyboard (with weighted keys) like a piano, will allow you

  • Re: And you think B&O has bad service from time to time?

The big organisations are definitely the worst. The issues we've had with BT are insane, we spent around 6 months trying to get broadband, and we got nowhere. Not only that, but they charge an absolute premium because they know if they lose one customer, or a hundred customers, or a thousand customers, it doesn't matter that much...
