Thanks for all the comments, messages and emails. I cannot tell you how much your feedback means to me. A long time has passed, lots of other repairs came through here and I've had to spend time on other things but the project hasn't ground to a halt. Not at all. A strike of luck brought with it a knob of the correct type. It was cleaned and

There's no programming as such. The basic functions are printed on the inside of the front lid and the rest is in the user manual, available for download for silver and gold members (well worth the small membership fee). The MCP 6500 user guide is found at the main website, under products, accessories, Master Control Panels... Martin

Yes, squeeze a thin block of foam in between the top of the carriage and the black plastic rear cover to hold the carriage down. Also place foam pieces around - or under and above the arms to provide a light sandwich-squeeze when the lid is closed. Of course making sure not to bend the arms in the squeeze. Martin

I agree, it looks fixable. I like to use an ultrasonic bath for cleaning things like this but less will probably do. You may need to dismount (and eventually replace) the affected jumpers and the resistor but that shouldn't be too difficult. A stiff brush, IPA (IsoPropanol Alcohol) and paper towels to suck up the mess. The other fault sounds like

The muting relay contacts actually ground the signal so lack of contact will result in lack of muting (i.e. you can hear the needle land on the record etc.). In your case, I think I would check the signal leads that are soldered to the edge of the DIN connector board (where also the muting relay sits). It's not uncommon to see them break off if

I feel it's safe to say that your board WILL have cracked solder joints and probably many but you may have to use a microscope to spot it and even that is not always enough. A capacitor kit exists for the Beogram 6006/8000/8002 series and replacing the lot is highly recommended. Some caps WILL be bad by now, it has been many years since the last

The carriage slides on a steel track bar, clipped to the subchassis plate. Sounds like yours have lifted off at the rightmost end. Was it transported/shipped ? Opening of the Beogram is needed to reach the spot so if you are not very good with mechanics, I suggest you bring it in for service. If my diagnose is correct it won't be an expensive repair

These accusations about the moderating team having a secret agenda couldn't be farther from the truth. Some of them even come from members that I've respected and dealt with previously. I'm baffled ! If some members choose to believe something that they will never be able to prove, simply because it doesn't exist, so be it, wars have

Citykid, Welcome to Beoworld ! So it would be OK if B&O (or one of their official dealers) were running Beoworld but not when it's a person dealing in pre-owned B&O, who just happens to own and run the site ? Funny how this thread seems to attract members, who either don't understand how Beoworld works, how independant an enthusiast
