The new products scoops problem I can understand. The customer knowing too much is just a sign that the dealer has not done his homework. I will happily say that my old dealer, Windows of the Arcade, had salesmen who knew far more than I ever did and who could remember details of almost every product. They gave one real confidence through their love

Lucky you! I am surprised that B&O have not supplied you with some equipment to help. Maybe we need to petition them!
Trip made a good point a few months ago that the only gushing praise to be found on here is for products manufactured before 1990, so in some ways I can't actually blame them!
A good point, though Beolab 5 and 9s always get plenty of praise as do most of the Beolab range - except the Beolab 4 (shudder
I bought a beolab 8000 system, and with that came 2 MS150 and 2 M150 speakers. They sound great but are hard to place, are the beovox penta better? They are easyer to place. Mogens
The straight answer is that , no, the Pentas are not better. The MS150s have better more accurate bass and are a very good passive

No really good answer to this one as B&O seem to design speakers to match systems. The Beovox 1200 for instance sounds pretty dire matched to a modern system but when used with a Beomaster 1200, it really sings. As far as good neutral speakers are concerned, the S120/MC120.2 and the S45-2are both extremely good. The MS150 is clearly an excellent

I would have thought a completely free (to them) form of advertising would have been most attractive both the B&O UK and the dealers, especially at a time when trading conditions were hard. I imagine this was the thought of B&O UK in offering the BV8-40 as a prize as this would no doubt be reported widely. Anything which increases the positive

Nice system to inherit! B&O equipment is really designed to stay in stand by though clearly that does use energy (though very little with the modern equipment). If you can turn the speakers on first, that might make a difference.

Well done - I have never pulled a BV5 apart but I understand that the screen is simply a Panasonic screen with all the usual controls.

I use an AV2 and have a Wii, a Sky box and a DVD/Freeview box attached to mine. The Sky is controlled by a STB-C and the DVD by a DVD-C (though I don't use the DVD-C much as it does not work all the functions).

Do you run the optical out to the DACmagic and a rca to minijack on the Beoport? And is that it? No messing around with volume or anything? Thinking of getting one myself.
