Great work guys! Regarding the red/orange issue, to my eyes it seems somewhat in between. Not quite deep red such as the ON light, but not on the yellow side either. My BM4400 is on loan, but I seem to remember the tuning meter needle was an example of proper orange.

Apparently the hairline could be created if you make a suitable groove, apply some red paint and wipe it away from the surface before it dries. But it may be a problem if the groove needs to be very smooth, I guess the slightest bit of fuzzyness would ruin the looks. Probably impossible unless you make some kind of a jig and machine it with the thinnest

Yes, it will play in mono as you are essentially shorting the channels together after the preamp... try something like this (I use the same CAD program as Jaff).
