Welcome to Beoworld. I agree with most of what you say. B&O is no longer an early adopter brand - but it does offer good quality, albeit at a price. The digital recording issue is certainly a problem - I use Sky+ as this integrates seamlessly and offers all I want. The HDR1/2 certainly do not offer anything like the flexibility. I agree that the

Is BeoLine 2 the newer, 'rounder' PSTN base (http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=1235) or a totally new product? If so, is Beoline 2 compatible with BeoCom 6000 Mk II (with earset connectivity)? Would be interesting as I plan to upgrade my older, rectangular PSTN base... Thanks, beoberlin It is a new product - it can work with older

Don't worry! Have another look! The BV8 was for August originally and the 6000s for Septmeber. They have just been swapped around. We had not quite got round to changing the September Draw! All correct now - start preparing the space!!

If you want the best, I would ask Frede at Classic Audio .

Why don't you use the Beomaster - not a bad amplifier and very stylish - this system along with a Beocord 1200 reel to reel machine was the choice of many designers due to its looks. I have a spare SP12 which looks fine - email me your address and I'll send it along. Only rule is that you mustn't sell it! If you don't need it anymore

You need an SP cartridge - almost any will do though the SP12 is the very best. The Beomaster 1200 has a built in pre-amp (RIAA - boosts the signal from a cartridge up to line level and also equalises it giving a flat frequency response). Are you planning to use this amplifier? If not, and the amplifier you have does not have a dedicated phono input

It can be but not the twin line facility. There is a new Beoline designed to get the most out of it - Beoline 2 - but it will work with slightly fewer features with both Beoline and Beoline PSTN.

An insider at B&O said the MC120 was the best balanced passive speaker made by B&O. He liked the S45-2s as well, which were the speaker touted as the best balanced by a salesman at my old dealer. This particular salesman was never that keen on B&O - he was more involved with musical instruments - which made his opinion all the more valuable

I have used all sorts of speakers with mine - the best are really the ones designed to go with the system as long as they are in good condition. However that said, I actually continue to use BBCLS3/5A speakers with mine along with AB1 subwoofers (not really sub woofers at all but add a couple of octaves to the LS3/5As!!) and these are my favourites

I was part of the Friendship Force between Newcastle and Atlanta organised by Jimmy Carter in the 70s. I stayed with a very friendly medical family and later with some students. I had a superb time - ate grits, had a meal in the revolving restaurant in the Peachtree Centre and drove a 5 litre estate car despite only being about 15! For some reason,
