Hmm..i dare saying that's the (more and more common it seems) 'dealer-bulls^&%t': the tube actually is available, however, not very interesting at B&O prices but a working solution is a replacement tube, browse the forum for this (i posted numbers etc here which i don't have at hand). New 32" tubes are still available !

....well meant but of no use i'm afraid: no such batteries in an MX7000 :) Which type of MX7000 is it ?? (type 33xx or 78xx), the combination of tv/remote and way of storing might be a problem...

Imho going for 'the best' option is buying a nice pair with foam rot and get new original drivers, not the cheapest option but your CX's will be as good as new and last another 15 years and you know there hasn't been 'fiddled' with. Cheap option is buy with foam rot and replace foam rings yourself, personally i'm not too

Erik, as far as i remember it's the same as with the older LX 5500 vs smaller LX4500: The LX6000 has no foam type speakers but rubber as opposed to the smaller LX5000. Just pull off the frets and you'll probably see there's no reason to be afraid :).

Just a little remark abt the 'bang' sound when an Avant shuts down, in my experience it usually sounds worse than it is: the reason for the 'bang' is the fact that, when the avant shuts down because of a failure (so it actually 'trips'), it doesn't shut down the 'nice way' it normally does, meaning it fades down the

Same here: i also just keep track of it to see what's going on but you can't make anything out of it. My guess it's also one of these things that when people have (little) less to spend, they stop ebay-ing. It's not only 'useability' i'm sure....like paying 450 euro for a 608 stereo tube amp, which can be used (with adapters

Mika, i think you're 'lucky' to get an original one, the same seller offered one earlier with the Peerless speaker (mentioned in this thread) abt which we have doubts abt it's originality. Anyway, the price is nice too, so funny that a 60's amp goes for 450,- and a 38 radio for so little money :) Oh well, as long as it gets a good

Have the doc on the mods now....so now i have to see what the owner wants :). In the doc it doesn't mention which type of tube is the replacement one and also i'm not clear if it needs different mounting-bushings but it looks like it doesn't, so if anything i'll try my luck with an LX5000 tube.

Cool...where did it come from ? (you got it from an auction site and had it shipped ??). I'm sure it'll 'outlive' the later generation (plastic) systems, which in a way will make it more of a challenge in future to find these in a good condition :). But these old radio's...all wood, metal...with a little bit of tlc it'll last

Hi Mika, congrats with the Master 38, it looks nice and original (i assume you've read the previous postings here..). So that makes us 3 lucky owners of this one (btw mine also works...): you, Martin and your's truly. Only one remark of you i found interesting (usually on this site you read the opposite !!): you stated your girlfriend made you
