Do you have a B&O audio system, if so try connecting the BL9's direct to it. Try a few of the same music tracks when the speakers are connected to the Avant (with BL1 selected) with and without the sub and with the BL9's connected to the audio system....

Which surround sound decoder do you have? Either the DSS or the later AC3/DTS version?...

You need to ensure the link frequency on the Master set is set to something you know. Start with 599. The process to do this is within the Manual for the Master TV set. The BV3 is probably setup as a Video master. You will need to set this as a slave. Once its setup as the slave you can then connect RF from RF OUT on the Master TV to RF in on the BV3

There are lots of influencing factors as noted. Budget, room style, future plans... Having heard a myriad or different speakers in seperate locations I'm not convinced it matters much, they are all pretty good.
