Ok, I have the scope. On the line level audio pins, there's a 0.3V oscillation that looks to be about 0.2ms wavelength (5kHz). It's an old scope though, and I can't get it to trigger correctly (of course it's probably my fault rather than the scope's), so I'm not positive on the 5kHz as the wave keeps moving around rapidly. If you're both desperate and comfortable opening the beomaster you could also pop out the lithium battery and put it back in. That should clear all memory from the system. Austin

What about for those of us who got a reminder 4 months before the expiration rather than 4 weeks? I'm hoping I'll still get a 4 week reminder, because I have to admit, the 4 month one isn't entirely helpful lol. Austin

Well I tried wiggling all the wires and connectors while it was playing, and there was no difference in sound. Martin, are there any specific capacitors you'd suggest replacing, before I go through the trouble of lugging home an oscilloscope from work? Thanks again, Austin

darioazul: Welcome Paris! Would you kindly post your work? It would of great interest to many of us to read and learn more about how the design world sees the BL 5 & B&O in general. Doing post-grad work... Dario Looks like somebody's looking for some feminine attention by showing off their massive font.

Welcome Paris. I too am a university student, in the US. Not a girl though, well usually... You mentioned not being able to afford much more than the beosound 1. You may not realize that many of us are interested very much in older B&O products. On a student's budget such as our own, complete systems from the 80's and early 90's can

Marc, my intent was to reach the bare metal though. How brilliant or shiny the metal will be would depend on the coarseness of what you're using to polish it.

soundproof: AdiS: kill the neighbour... What if he's a BeoWorlder? What if it's ... you?

Teddy_fr: Hello all vintage products lovers, The Beocord 5000 as the Beograms 4002 /4004 /6000 and the Beomaster 6000 quad have the same problem. Their keys plate is made of a steel blade which is coated with matt varnish; over the years the finger prints tend to polish and make this matt varnish glossy or in case of important wear the nude metal can
