Having had an AV 7000 many years ago, I believe that it will do exactly what you want if all you want is to add rear speakers for 4-speaker surround. However, I certainly would not recommend it for video. It actually makes even standard definition video worse with it's processing. I agree that the BeoVision 5 has a stunning design. You need to be aware that the BeoVision 5 will NOT have HDMI. You'll have to rely on the component inputs for high def. What's most problematic is where you are in the world. Seeing that you're -5.00 GMT, that takes you outside of Europe. The DVD 2 has no IR sensor.
