CD/DVD are not dead at all. Some advanced electronical nerds may think so, but the average B&o-customer certainly still uses CD's. The marque always atracted a little conservative well-to-do public, who were looking for a classy, and first of all, easy to use AV installation. Official B&o-website has dropped beosound 3200 and BS1, Beosound 9000 and Beocenter 2 are still displayed. If they will be removed from the site, not much is left, it is going to be very lonely for the Beosound 5... not a impressive product line under the "Audio" section.

Some comments have been made on the (relative absence of) midrange of the Beolab 9, I haven't read such comments about the 5's, so perhaps the midrange seems to be more prominent in the 5's relative to the bass which could explain the fenomenon that you described?

The A8's are very good in my opinion, not much bass as being a headphone it is a very small speaker, but very clear and same "tonal" quality as the other B&o speakers.

Doesn't the 4000 have a better midrange than the 3's? But the 3 does sonically disappear more than the 4000 perhaps. The 4000 not such a good speaker? On this site (product section) they are described as "the hidden gem"..

If you take a closer look at the frequency respons, there's a dip at 5khz, is this the infamous/much discussed weak midrange? Above 10KHz there's an increase, is that to accompish a clear top-end? Altogether not a completely flat frequency respons, or is it well within normal limits?
