Peter: I was advised by an authorised B&O repairer that NiMH was the way to go... He is looking further into this for me. This page (in German) seems to confirm this: http://www.ulf-kiener.de/bo/bo.html I got in touch with the author, Ulf Kiener, and he says he used NiMH batteries. He changed them in 1995 and if it's still going strong, that's

I've found another pack which looks more hopeful: Go to this page on Pandan Models , and scroll down to " Sakura - 5 Cell 6.0v 1000 Mah Receiver Battery Pack (NiCad) ". Any views on this?

Update, the seller just got back to me: Hello Sorry we do not have any collections, you also have to find out what charge currect your charge gives out as it will not know when to switch off as its a nicad charger and will cook battery pack. Paul

Great stuff. Thanks for all the helpful advice, Puncher. It looks like the seller isn't far from me - I'm going to try to go and pick them up over the weekend. if he'll go with that. Otherwise, it looks like it will be Monday or Tuesday till they arrive. Which ones would you go with, TX Pack 6v NEW Technology Nimh+ Flat Futaba VAPEXTECH

So, it sounds like this battery pack might be the answer, or maybe this one ?

I will probably take a look at the weekend, and then burn myself, curse and then afterwards post a long entry here on how big a disaster this was, recommending nobody else try it. Of course, I'm not even sure the batteries are

That's interesting. I'll have to try opening it up. I don't suppose anyone has service manuals for the BL 7000 perchance ;-)

Hi Peter, I bought this Beolink 7000 on Ebay, to use with a BeoSystem 6500: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170139294014&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:UK:11 It doesn't seem to be accepting a charge, so I guess I need new batteries. Graham recommended I get in touch with you. Is this something you can help me with? -- Colin

Thanks, Mico. Yes, isn't the BC9000 a great design? It's a bit like a sleeker version of the BeoMaster 2400 my Grandpa left me ( http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=335 ). That's what prompted me to buy the 6500 in the first place.
