  • Re: Beocenter 9300 cd fault

Thanks Martin, now you're talking my language. Pliers, grab, pull and twist! I thought there may be a more 'technical' way! I should have mentioned that I'm a mechanical engineer so that part of the job should be simple enough for me

Thanks again guys. You are correct in that the two large capacitors are deformed (bulging). It was the first thing I noticed when I opened up the unit. Replacing the capacitors shouldn't present me with too many challenges once I have sourced them but how easy is it to remove the original surface mounted items without causing any damage to the board

  • Re: Rosewood but which type?

Thanks Dave, nice pictures on the link. They capture the different colours beautifully and I reckon I've got something in just about each of the four shades and grains from my S55's which are close to red to a pair of S45's I bought last week-end that are just about Brown. I'll have a look on flea-bay at the week-end and see what I can

Thanks Guys, I've sent a couple of cartridges to Axel for refurbishment, one of which is going on to the Beogram once it is cosmetically restored. I know that it will never have any huge monetary value but unlike most modern electronics B&O always seems too good to consign to the tip once it has reached its 'use by' date. At least that's

  • Rosewood but which type?

I am going to replace the veneer on a beogram I'm restoring but not being much of a 'wood butcher' myself I am curious if anyone knew what variety of rosewood B&O used in the past. It was only when I 'googled' rosewood that I found out there are a few varieties available, rosewood being something of a generic name it seems. Some

And the reverse side of the board.

Hi Menahem, I have attached a photo of the board in my 9300, Martin thought it may have been replaced at some time in the past as it was a recent type. Be interested to know what is fitted to the one you get in. Regards, Clive

[quote user="Clive"] The cd doesn't spin after accepting a disk and the door then reopens. I've tried a very light clean of the laser lens to no avail. Are there any common faults or simple checks I could do with a meter for example before admitting defeat and taking it to the local store for a mechanism change out? 9300 is a type

  • Re: Hello to everyone and of course the obligatory first question!

Thanks for the pointer and from reading the thread and my own observations it appears that my 9300 which has the linear, ie straight track for the laser, does not have the capacitor C2103 on the board under the mechanism which is where I unsucessfully looked for it. Good to know I'm not going blind or stupid anyway. The last comment on that thread
