Many thanks for such a quick and helpful reply. I have managed to regain sound and picture on the wii using the supplied composite cable following your tip.So at least I know it still works. However I am still confused as to how to utilise the component cable. Sorry to be a pain but i don't know if I am missing something obvious or it really is
