Peter : They are quite old but don't let that put you off! If you really want, Frede would restore them for you - or I believe Quad will do this themselves! QUAD will refurbish any of their amps and the prices are very reasonable, that's why they command high s/h prices. Do Yamaha refurbish their amps I wonder?

From what I remember the Din on the Quad 405 is 5? pin (might be 4!)so you would need to make up a special lead. Not much hassle and most certainly worth doing. The Quad will blow your mind!! (and possibly your speakers if you are not careful with the volume control!!!!!!) It will deliver at least 100wpc into virtually any load. You have been warned

krisb: Sorry, wasn't very specific there. By little bit of metal I mean the lever that is connected at one end to the screw that you tighten /loosen to adjust the platter height, and at the other to a little hook that actually lifts the platter and mechanics. The belt for the TX2 will do just fine. I believe that member Dillen (Martin) does the belts so you could try him. If you upgrade to at least silver membership of this site, you can download the service manual, which give details of adjustments to the deck. Your symptoms are fairly common.

You will certainly be able to sell the other 10 but not overnight. I just sold an original for £60 on ebay so that should give you some idea where to pitch them.
