Part number 8002956 RIAA pre amp was an accessory. Of course, I knew that all the time...........nobody asked!

The speakers and your listening position should be at the corners of an equilateral triangle.

You need to remove the gloss black plastic strips at the top and bottom of the contrast screen. Pull one end out and the rest should be obvious. Now remove the 4 screws situated one at each corner of the screen and remove it for cleaning. Take care you don't drop it!

Japanese amplifiers traditionaly use RCA sockets so you would need a din-rca converter.

Probably C2103 on the servo pcb, possibly one of the other caps. In any case, the components are about 20p each. I am surprised that it is faulty so soon but the symptoms do sound familiar, usually only after 10 years or so!

I am old enough to remember the NS1000's when they were first launched and yes..........I lusted after a pair as well as the pre and power amps that went with them. Fantastic system although a bit of an aquired taste as I recall. Very easy to upset the neighbours with this setup!!!!

I think you have indeed been unlucky. Although I have little experience with the Beosound 1, I have been dealing with B&O cd players for some 5 years and have found them to be ultra reliable. You are also suffering from a dealer with "broken cd" syndrome. Not unusual I'm afraid. The stock answer with most dealers is "needs replacing"
