    The Beo5's ability to control other devices is not there to control say, a DVD player. It's more a case of being able to control for example, lights or curtains which may be controlled via IR, simple functions for automation, or so I believe.

    I'm surprised you mention a 1965 recording as dynamic, I haven't yet heard an older classical recording which sounds good to my ears.     Although I agree with the others that you do seem to have an appalling list of issues with your kit, I must point out that the first two errors are most likely down to the BeoCenter 2 (of which those issues could stem from one small fault), the BC6000/Serene faults are most likely an issue with one or the other, not both, and the BeoLink Wireless is

    MPEG4 is just a codec, a piece of software which instructs the hardware how to decode a new kind of signal.

    It's possible that it could be controlled with the DVD controller, however I'm not sure if it's on the list of controllable players. Anybody used the DVD 2 yet?

    There's no such thing as golden ears, just people who know how to listen properly and those that don't. Also, these earphones are almost always going to be played with a compressed source such as an iPod, so why test them with something different? You want to see how well they're going to perform when you're using them. If the earphones are TOO good

    The Decoding is done in the TV, not in the DVD player. With DVDs, you have to manually choose the DTS soundtrack in the DVD's menu as it isn't selected automatically, and yes, DTS is better than Dolby Digital.
