Depends on the condition and what you get. If it includes a CD5500 and MCP5500 along with the Beomaster and Beogram LP. I would say it was a bargain if it works! Shame the cartridge is missing but you would need a new one probably anyway.

Unfortunately the MX doesn't work like this. To get the full service menu, you need to short the service plug on a PCB which obviously means taking the back off and risking death! Not sure that the MX series has service indicators anyway!

Where are you based? Quite rare to find one with all the packaging these days!

The lid was originally held on with double sided tape - clean off the residue and use epoxy to fix it. You can use a spacer to maintain tolerances though I don't usually bother. The surround to the platter uses the same tape. The 8000 doesn't have a normal belt as it uses a linear drive for the platter but there is a belt which drives the arm

You need some Torx screwdrivers - T10 and T20.There are 5 screws holding on the back which need to be removed (7-32) and then 4 holding the screen on. The screen is removed by lifting and then pulling forward. The service manual is on site but you need to be a silver or gold member.

Tim Jarman actually prefers the sound of the 20EN to the CL. I prefer the CL but it has to be warm! My favourite cartridge of all was the MMC6000 but they seem to go off - all the ones I have now are badly worn whereas all bar one of my CLs look pristine. I do think the suspensions harden though - if you try them with CD4 records which have to track

He is in California but all his B&O stuff is in Sweden. He needs the loan (or gift!) of a Beoport and some B&O equipment - He can no doubt be more specific! I believe he is there working on something else unconnected to B&O.

The 5500 does as well but not the outputs marked pre-amp!! These will work but actually go through the power amp and then a very big resistor! The sockets joined by the metal hoops are proper pre-amp outputs - I loop these through my headphone amplifier. Disonnecting them will stop the power amplifier working unless you can loop back.
