• Re: BeoCenter 7700
I guess I may be a dying breed with an old classic as the BC7700.
Certainly not! But, I guess the intersection of the vintage / modern stuff enthusiasts is rather small after all - so you may well be the first one to even think about this problem. I don't personally have any of this kit, but I tried to

  • Re: beolink 7000 newbie question

That's the way it is supposed to work. If you have it sitting on a table, it will stay up until you pick it up.

  • Re: Beolab Penta display problem

(now we do have Mk.II schematics on site - have they been recently added or did I just overlook them?) That trimmer seems to be for adjusting the display contrast (or rather, viewing angle) of the LCD module. It won't make the backlight any brighter, but if the display seems to be brighter when looking either below or above the horizontal level

  • Re: ANNOUNCEMENT -- Update to Forum

Yes, I'll like the looks after initial getting used to it, seems clear & concise in a good way. I'm sure the features will keep evolving, but the one thing I miss already is the old "Forums" main page which allowed a look at the most recently active topic in every subforum. (And please don't tell Flappo that animated avatars

  • Re: Decoding Datalink

No hurry at all, my current projects (which are on hold anyway) are on the infrared side, which is much more complex. I just think that compiling a comprehensive list of commands will need some cooperation, as nobody will have every possible device to try out in practise. They may have different semantics even though the commands are the same.

Next time we hear from Geoff he's done it.

  • Re: 5500 Amplifier switching into standby

If it is indeed the standby relay that has burned, there has probably been a serious short circuit on the secondary side of the power supply. I would start with checking the main rectifier which may have shorted. If there was smoke, you should find the suspect circuit areas just by looking around...

  • Re: Need to "earth" a Beocenter2?

I can feel this with just about any B&O kit that has exposed aluminium surfaces. They usually have to be turned on (in case of old kit that has no standby) and you have to drag your finger along the surface to feel it. Somebody explained to me that it might be caused by the AC voltage field created by the current flowing near the metal and requires

  • Re: TV viewing height

Interesting observation. Of course we need to consider the positioning of the actual viewing area, for example my MX6000 on a motor stand has the lower edge of the screen at ~50cm from the floor. Personally, I think I would rather look down than up, and perhaps have the eyes of typical dialogue participants level with mine, so the reference for the

  • Re: Decoding Datalink

Hi Stoney3K, just wanted to thank you for posting your findings - only now had time to read them properly. Do you intend to publish the codes, or make me find them out myself? (I don't blame you if you want to keep them to yourself - nobody else publishes anything either, everybody just wants to sell you something, or at least reserve the possibility
