The innards of the cartridge are identical - I would have the CL rebuilt.

The Beocom 4 is a stand alone phone and will not work with the Beoline or PSTN base used by the 6000. The 6000 and Beocom 2 are the two system phones, soon to be joined by the Beocom 5. The problem with this is that it would run the batteries down very quickly. If the dock was a charging station, that would be different. I use my Beolink 7000 in this mode.

I think I have a VX7000 surplus to requirements if you want one. It worked last time I looked but if you are interested, I will test it. It will need collecting!

I would suggest a Pro-ject Debut . Reasonable quality, takes easily replaced and cheap cartridges and will be very easy to use. If you are just using to transcribe, you want something cheap but good sounding. This one can also come fitted with a built in phono amplifier.

The plexiglass will probably just pull off - it is held by doublesided tape which will probably have rotted!
