  • Re: To use low ESR capacitors in Penta Amplifier or not?

There's a kit available that contains foil caps for the crossovers, WIMA-II caps for the signal path and 105deg general purpose caps for the other electrolytics. Low-ESR is not at all as important as 105deg. It can get very warm inside the Penta amp casing and that's what kills the original caps. The kit also contains new op-amps, also worth

  • Re: Beogram 4004 solenoid

Check the solenoid arms pivot points around the solenoid and also inside the carriage housing. Martin

Søren please... WD40 contains acid in some form. It's good for (and meant for) losening rusty bolts on a car. It has nothing to do inside stereo, let alone in your livingroom ! Contact cleaner is de-oxidizing. It's for - cleaning contacts, nothing else ! The piston is not inside the solenoid and the plunger inside the solenoid can be

  • Re: Beocenter 4000 lysdioder

Hvilken type Beocenter 4000 ? Den med en båndoptager-del i højre side eller den med to båndoptagere under et stort låg i venstre side ? Og hvad skal de to lysdioder indikere/belyse ? Martin

  • Re: Bang and Olufsen 1991 Type 6203 Speakers

Welcome to Beoworld ! What you have is a pair of active Beolab 2500 speakers. They are normally linked together with a suitable Bang & Olufsen music system and will be difficult to fit elsewhere because of the way power/control/signal is linked. As to the resale value, well you just acquired them, so you will know how much they were. Best price

  • Re: Beocord 6000 part wanted

Not if done corretly, is isn't. You know, the lazy repairer will make it right the first time. Anyway, in case you absolutely have to replace the whole mechanical section, you can dismount the tapeheads and let them follow the machine with the matching PCB boards rather than the mech. section. That way you will "only" have to readjust

  • Re: beomaster 5000 shutting down

The load on the output stage is not related to the specific volume setting but rather the signal content and it's input amplitude so what shuts down at 3.0 one place can easily shutdown at a higher or lower setting somewhere else or if playing something different. Anyway, I had a similar case to what you describe which proved to be nothing more

  • Re: Beogram 3000 (Tangential version)

Can you lift off the subplatter ? If so, can you rotate the two cam wheels by hand using no more than "controlled hand-force" ? Martin

  • Re: Beolab 5000

I agree. Try playing a bit with the level setting switches underneath (with no power on), could easily be that one has oxidized. Martin

Will the tonearm carriage move sideways if pushed gently by hand or is it locked too ? Martin
