Surprisingly good Peter :) Very underrated I think - not heard too much comment about this amp on Beoworld before, despite its obvious good looks. Wonder why this is, given the lust shown for Beomaster 6000 Quads and, to a lesser extent, Beomaster 3400s???
I suppose that they are rather large and at the same

Very nice - a really good amplifier - one of the best.
Peter, how did you get the sliders so clean on yours. Mine are slightly yellow - is this cleanable. I do have a BM3000 which has perfect ones, is it possible to swap them over if I fancy it?
I think the 3000 is a different size but they are easy to get on and off - the whole front panel just unbolts. The slides

And this is after - I removed all the numbers, leaving just the markings , replaced the missing markings first and then put the numbers in. I don't think it was bad but I did replace it eventually with a better front plate and obviously now have the one Frede did for me.

Just to show you the possibilities, here is my original 5000 before I used the Letraset. You can see the typical missing numbers in the volume scale.

On the number front, you have a few options. I did one of mine using Letraset - the font I used with Helvetica and it matched perfectly. There are also lots of lines that can be used for the markings. A friend of mine had the whole panel engraved which obviously will not wear but is not original. Frede is having new panels made - I have one of the first

Some people reckon they can hear the coils on the 8002 through the cartridge (I can't!) The major advantage the 4000 has is the mass of the platter which is far greater than the 8002. The 8002 has the different support for the record but I don't think either is very good! Shame you are not in the UK or you could compare them to my 3000 with

Not that much wow though with the stacking systems though. It is a sensible choice though. Looking at what the original request was for, I would get the 9500. Plenty of wow, a CD as standard, a good radio and amplifier and as compact as any 'wow' B&O! Readily available, uses the modern remotes and even has powerlink sockets. Will also work

There is a problem with the BS2 and Vista - B&O seem to have effectively stopped supporting the BS2 and I don;t think it is at the forefront of their minds at present! There is however a work around! You need to set it to Mass storage mode and then use either Windows Media Player or iTunes to transfer the music - I would use iTunes, Take the BS2

No! I have used S120s with all sorts of amplifiers and they work fine with all of them. The amplifier in the 4500 is perfectly good - remember that most listening is at only a few watts.
